Organic sugar also produced at the Danish factory since 2017

The factory in Nykøbing is in the south of the country and is the second sugar factory in Denmark, after the facility in Nakskov.

The sugar factory in Nykøbing was established in 1884 by farmers. Raw sugar is also processed here. We can process sugar beets from about 170 hectares per day.

We produce sugar, molasses and animal feed in Nykøbing. Under the DanSukker brand, we market around half of the sugar produced to the retail sector, while the other half is supplied to the further processing industry. We also produce specialities here, such as brown sugar and icing sugar.

Since 2017, we have been processing ecologically grown sugar beet in Nykøbing in addition to conventional beet. This means that the factory is Nordzucker’s third certified location where we extract and crystallize organic sugar. Since 2017, we have been processing organically grown sugar beet in Nykøbing in addition to conventional sugar beet. This makes the factory the third certified site at Nordzucker, alongside the factories in Kėdainiai and Schladen where we extract and crystallize organic sugar.
