People & Culture Development
at Nordzucker

At Nordzucker, we invest in the skills and competencies of our employees so that they can successfully fulfill their tasks today and confidently meet future challenges.

Development that makes an impact

For us, people and culture development means strengthening people in their professional roles, fostering collaboration and providing orientation in a changing world of work. We support employees and leaders in actively shaping change, taking on responsibility and putting their strengths to effective use. In doing so, we align with the goals of our corporate strategy – so that the development of our company and of our employees goes hand in hand.

Career development with structure and perspective

We rely on modern, flexible and effective HR concepts as well as structured succession planning that makes potential visible early on and supports individual career and development steps. Regular, structured employee conversations form a basis for this. They create space for feedback, orientation and the joint agreement of goals – appreciative and on equal footing. This is how we create the conditions for people, teams and our company to move successfully into the future.

Self-reflection as the key to leadership and collaboration

Those who understand themselves can act more consciously, communicate more clearly and lead others better. With a wide range of development offerings – from training courses to Insights Discovery® to targeted leadership development – we create space at Nordzucker for self-reflection, strong collaboration and responsible leadership.

1. Personal development

For us, personal development begins with looking inward: those who understand themselves can act more consciously, communicate more clearly and better support others. This understanding carries over into everyday life – in conversations, in how we interact with one another and in the way teams work together.

Our development offerings are diverse and practice-oriented. They range from classic training courses to resilience‑ and stress management to special formats such as equine-assisted training. In addition, we support professional development with targeted measures that connect directly to the demands of day-to-day work.

This is how we create space for learning, development and prospects.

2. Insights Discovery® – The self-reflection tool at Nordzucker

At Nordzucker, we support our employees in better understanding their own strengths, behaviors and communication preferences. At the same time, this helps to recognize different working and communication styles within the team and to deal with them consciously.

For this purpose, we use Insights Discovery®, a tool that makes individual preferences visible using an easy-to-understand four-color model. Based on a self-assessment, our employees receive a personal preference profile that serves as a starting point for self-reflection, feedback and development conversations.

A shared understanding of different preferences supports collaboration across departments and countries and makes it easier to talk about strengths, areas for development and teamwork.

Insights Discovery® has been an integral part of our people and leadership development for many years. All leaders have a preference profile and use the shared language to consciously shape collaboration, communication and leadership in day-to-day work.

3. Leadership at Nordzucker

Leadership at Nordzucker means taking responsibility. Strengthening people, making decisions and shaping the future. Our leaders lead with courage, create clarity and enable their teams to unfold their potential. Our values and leadership principles provide the framework. In this way, we foster a culture built on trust, openness, dialogue and shared values.

To enable our leaders to lead resiliently and effectively at all times, we offer tailored development measures both regularly and as needed. In addition to classic, target-group-oriented training for the development stages “Starter”, “Experienced” and “Master”, these also include measures for self-reflection and self-awareness as well as training and impulses on topics such as resilience, effective collaboration and team development.

A strong culture starts with each individual

“For us, self-reflection is not an end in itself. It is the starting point for effective leadership, genuine collaboration and a strong corporate culture.”

A working environment that suits you

We create a working environment that is guided by the needs of modern workplaces: flexible, appreciative, open and geared towards making work and private life fit together.

The world of work is changing – new technologies, new expectations, new forms of collaboration. At Nordzucker, this means: we listen, keep developing and create conditions in which different generations and perspectives are valued and can work together successfully. Annual employee surveys allow us to receive valuable feedback from our employees, which helps us take the right steps for the future. Together we grow also means for us finding solutions together that work – in the team, in everyday life and across locations.

We foster a culture in which development is a matter of course: real opportunities to take on responsibility, conversations on equal footing and modern people development concepts that enable individual paths.

At our headquarters in Braunschweig, for example, we have for many years been the sponsor of a daycare center with reserved places for the children of our employees. In addition, there is our “Time-Out” area, an open space for short-notice childcare gaps, exercise, relaxation or exchange. We want people to enjoy working at Nordzucker – and to feel supported and valued while doing so.  Because when the environment is right, teams can grow.

Diversity that makes us stronger

We see diversity as a genuine strength: different perspectives, experiences, backgrounds and ways of working make us more creative, solution-oriented and successful. Our diverse and international teams from seven European countries and Australia enrich our culture and inspire our daily actions. This attitude shows in everyday life: in open teams, in mutual support, in bold ideas and in the way we make decisions. Diversity and inclusion are not a project for us, but part of our culture – closely linked to our values and our guiding principle Together we grow.

Targeted support for women in leadership

We bring women in leadership together: it’s about exchange, networking and learning together.

In cooperation with the PANDA Women Leadership Network | Network for Women in Leadership we support women in leadership positions at Nordzucker in networking, sharing perspectives and further developing their leadership. The offerings range from leadership topics to personal development to strategic networking.
