Start of the crush at Mackay Sugar

Sugar cane processing has begun in Australia. The Marian mill started the crushing season on Monday 13 June, Racecourse on Tuesday 14 June, and Farleigh on Wednesday 15 June.

Mackay Sugar expects the crop to be about 5.1 million tonnes of cane in 2022 (compared to 5.3 million tonnes last year) and raw sugar production to be about 750,000 tonnes. The “crushing season” is planned to be completed by the end of November 2022, one month earlier than last year. During the crushing season, more than 800 employees will be working around the clock.

Extensive investments and maintenance measures implemented this year are a good prerequisite for a successful processing season.
