2026/2027 campaign: A successful start thanks to strong team effort

From Poland to Finland, from Denmark to Germany: the 2026/2027 campaign at Nordzucker is in full swing.

The start-up phase at most Nordzucker factories has been successfully completed. The teams were able to quickly overcome technical challenges, and production processes are now running smoothly. In Clauen, beet processing began in early October following technical work on an evaporator. The successful start to the campaign is the result of a strong team effort across all sites.

The latest yield estimates confirm a generally favourable starting position. In Germany, sugar yields are currently exceeding expectations, whilst regional risks, such as the impact of SBR, continue to be closely monitored.

“Every campaign begins in the field. What we are seeing today in our factories is the result of the hard work and dedication of many people, from our growers and agricultural colleagues to the teams in logistics and production. I wish everyone involved a continued successful and safe campaign,” explains Lars Gorissen, CEO of Nordzucker AG.

Crush in Australia nearing completion

Sugar cane processing is also progressing well among our Australian colleagues at Mackay Sugar. Early October, around 70 per cent of the cane harvest had already been processed. Due to heavy rainfall and overcast conditions in the peak growing period, and very dry weather throughout the harvesting season, this year’s harvest is expected to be significantly smaller than in previous years. The three factories are operating stably from a technical perspective, and plant availability has been further improved compared with the previous season.

Succeeding together throughout the campaign

“The first few weeks of the campaign have impressively demonstrated the commitment, expertise and team spirit with which our colleagues are mastering the challenges of the campaign’s start. We must now build on this positive momentum and maintain a consistent focus on safety, quality, performance and collaboration. If we continue along this path together, we will create the best possible conditions for a successful, efficient and accident-free campaign,” says COO Alexander Godow.
