Until the end of August, our colleagues at our production sites will be carrying out modernisation work, implementing efficiency measures and making technical optimisations. In this way, we are preparing for the campaign to start as smoothly as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As is the case every year, the production sites will be thoroughly inspected before processing begins, and any potential weak points will be identified and rectified. Investments in major plant components must also be completed before the start of the campaign. These include new evaporator stages for more efficient use of process heat, as well as modernisation work on sugar houses, beet washing facilities and other central production facilities. At the Schladen production site, a new extraction tower will be commissioned for the campaign. These projects make a measurable economic contribution, particularly through savings on energy and CO\u2082 costs. The combination of operational excellence, energy efficiency and decarbonisation is a key element in ensuring Nordzucker\u2019s long-term viability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The results from recent years show that GoGreen is having an impact: Nordzucker has already achieved around 50 per cent of the CO\u2082 reduction planned by 2030 compared with the base year of 2018. Overall, energy consumption per tonne of sugar has fallen by around 20 per cent since 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
