{"id":4253,"date":"2021-07-21T10:53:47","date_gmt":"2021-07-21T08:53:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nordzucker.com\/en\/?p=4253"},"modified":"2021-07-21T12:18:43","modified_gmt":"2021-07-21T10:18:43","slug":"green-steam-in-sweden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nordzucker.com\/en\/nordzucker-post\/green-steam-in-sweden\/","title":{"rendered":"Green steam in Sweden"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Our sugar factory in \u00d6rtofta cooperates with the local combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Kraftringen, thus contributing to sustainability and climate protection.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00d6rtofta uses steam from the nearby CHP plant in Kraftringen to replace the fossil fuels currently used in the sugar production process. The combined heat and power plant in Kraftringen generates steam from the renewable fuel wood chips. Construction of the steam pipeline between the two plants is scheduled to begin in autumn 2021, with operation starting in autumn 2022.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The steam from the CHP plant in Kraftringen can cover almost 25 per cent of the total energy demand at the sugar factory in \u00d6rtofta. This is equivalent to heating around 4,000 single-family homes per year. At the same time, the investment contributes to a reduction in emissions from sugar production of around 17,000 tonnes of CO<sub>\u2082<\/sub>\u00a0per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our cooperation partner is a municipal energy company near \u00d6rtofta. It aims to use natural resources as effectively as possible and focus on local energy solutions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of Nordzucker&#8217;s sustainability strategy, the cooperation forms a contribution to our &#8220;GoGreen&#8221; programme.
