All three factories are situated northwest of Mackay in the State of Queensland, Australia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marian is located around 25 km west of Mackay. The factory was first built in 1885, but closed after some years. A new factory was constructed in 1894 and began processing sugar cane in 1895.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Raw sugar is produced from sugar cane during the crushing season. The sugar cane grows in the area surrounding the factory and is transported from the fields to the factory during the crushing season using the factory\u2019s own railway network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The raw sugar is exported or further processed into white sugar at refineries in Australia.
