Full transparency on the way to climate neutrality
To support our commitment to climate protection, Nordzucker has committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in April 2021 and thereby pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions according to a transparent and traceable target.
Nordzucker aims to decrease its emissions from direct operations (Scope 1 and 2) by 50,4% by 2030, based on our baseline in 2018. Nordzucker expects to have the science-based target validated by the SBTi in the first part of 2023.
On our way to achieving climate neutral production in 2050, we want to phase out any remaining coal by latest 2030.
The SBTi has currently over 3500 committed companies, who are working towards o achieving the objectives of the Paris Agreement of 2015 limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C. The SBTi is a partnership between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
