Nakskov (Denmark)

Nakskov sugar plant (Denmark)

When the Nakskov sugar plant was built in southern Denmark in 1882, it could process 300 tonnes of sugar beet per day. This made the plant one of the largest sugar producing plants in northern Europe at the time. Even today, the Nakskov plant is one of Nordic Sugar's largest beet processing plants. Around 100 staff are employed at the plant and joined by another 40 temporary staff during the campaign. The plant produces sugar for the food industry, and molasses and animal feed.
