Clauen sugar factory (D)
The sugar factory in the Hildesheimer Börde originated back in 1869. The factory in Clauen was originally established as a farmer's stock company. Nowadays, the factory exclusively produces crystalline white sugar in bulk form for industrial customers. The factory has been comprehensively modernised in recent years to make it more productive and efficient. The aim was to boost customer satisfaction even further, at the same time as satisfying our very high standards for environmental production. Of particular interest is the construction of a steam dryer for the drying of beet pulp, which slashed primary energy consumption by 25 per cent.
