Nordzucker and Wilmar Sugar agree to cooperate

Wilmar to expand its sugar activities - Nordzucker to broaden its supply base for sugar

Nordzucker AG and Wilmar Sugar Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Wilmar International Limited, have agreed to cooperate in the sourcing of Raw Sugar for the European market and on the marketing of EU-sugar outside the European Union. In addition, both partners will jointly evaluate opportunities for further cooperation within Sugar.

"The EU sugar market will continue to be dependent on imports. Wilmar is a truly global player in this field with vast experience well beyond Asia. Through this cooperation, we will broaden our supply base for our EU processing industries and get further interconnected with the world markets", says Niels Pörksen, Chief Agricultural Officer of Nordzucker AG.

"With our know-how in sourcing raw sugar, our expertise in trading and physically moving world sugar, we intend to expand our activities further. This cooperation with Nordzucker will provide us access to the European Sugar market with a partner holding a significant market share in that region. By that we will complement our geographical coverage of the global sugar market", says Jean-Luc Bohbot, Managing Director of Wilmar Sugar.
